Since dropping his 1996 debut album (in cassette format no doubt), Youngsta’s On A Come Up, under the alias Lil Yo, Gotti has dropped a whopping 8 albums and 19 mixtapes as well as scored 3 gold and platinum singles. If you do not take risks, what do you expect to get? It’s a gamble and I am a gambler. Keep one tambo rattlesnake run, but ditched it at mix time. It’s risk versus reward out here. Then had him go grab the studio percussion box. Left off the 1 hook and added 2 walkdowns so it wouldn't sound like "hook, insert bass here" I grabbed the assistant, who can actually play, to see if I was playing the best way for the notes.

Played around for a second & decided to only play in the hooks. Went into a 1272 pre with di straight in. There was a lone fender jazz bass in the corner. Next day I was at studio alone mixing and finished. It was cool, but a little to much/different for what it needed. He just shrugged his shoulders and went "yea?" Sent it to a friend of mine I knew who was cutting Gtr/bass at 2am in Memphis on my friends project and had a bass world already setup. Low end! Told Gotti I thought it needed bass. It turned out cool, but I still thought it needed something. Honestly I was expecting him to say next! But he jumped on it. I was also wondering, what is his process of picking beats? Does he bring in major producers or does he get emails from up and coming producers?"My City" is the 1st time I played bass on a released record! When we got the record, it was just an acoustic guitar & hook. I only listened to My City and Come Up but i'm downloading the album on spotify right now and will listen to it as soon as I get out of class. That said - one person keeping a track on things well led to my Grammy nom, so some you do win. My studio is literally underneath our production department, and I still have to keep an eye on credits - and they go wrong regularly!

Who might well forget the guy who tracked vocals on one song. Credits) are a long way removed from the actual production - so they're relying on the "official" information coming from the manager/producer. Which was the go to Reverb?Because the people doing label copy (i.e. Which was the go to Comp/EQ on the Drums?

I didnt really know him before, so I was very surprised about that album. Especially in music videos.these video mother****ers put their goddamn names over it all the time but the music producers/engineers/writers dont get their mention at all. Why are actually so many credits ****ed up? I hate that.It is not too hard to list every person who contributed to a song.
